Focus Verse
Proverbs 8:19-21 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. (KJV)

"Here’s a fun fact. Do you know what Paul described as beautiful in the Bible? Feet.”
That’s right. Paul thought feet were beautiful, but not just Paul. Isaiah did as well. In fact, in Romans 10:15, Paul recites Isaiah 52:7 where the prophet said beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news. And what is the good news? The gospel of Jesus Christ.
To God, anyone who carries the gospel to someone who does not know Jesus is precious. Why? Because a soul is more valuable to God than all the gold and silver in the world.
Today's Devotion
Shelly gazed spitefully at the mountain of boxes stacked from floor to ceiling in her new room.
Her mother came to her room. “Getting settled in, sweetie?”
Shelly motioned to the boxes. “Mom, this isn’t even half of my things and they barely fit. My closet at our old house was bigger than this entire room. Why did we have to move?”
“Honey, we talked about this. When you father took the pastor position at the church, he had to leave his well-paying job to make the move. That meant sacrifices for us all.”
“It doesn’t make sense, Mom,” Shelly whined. “Who leaves a good job and a great house with lots of room for this?”
“I think you’ve got your priorities out of order, dear.”
“I know I’m being selfish.” Shelly dropped to the floor and began to cry. “I’m sorry. I just don’t understand. Why would God do that?”
Her mother sat down beside her. “Honey, God called your dad to preach long before he became a manager. The time was not right to become a full-time minister until now.” Her mother picked up Shelly’s chin. “Saving people means more than a big house.”
A tear slid from Shelly’s eye. “I never thought of it that way.”
Her mother wrapped Shelly in her arms and rocked her gently. “Sweetie, these small sacrifices have an eternal reward. You’ll adjust. We all will. Be thankful you’re part of something much bigger than ourselves.”
“You’re right,” Shelly said, grabbing a box nearby. “We’ve got work to do in this town, so I better get unpacking.”
Wrap Up
God values things differently than we do. A soul to God is worth more than all the money in the world. The fruit of God’s kingdom is a harvest of souls added to His eternal, heavenly roster.
Instinctively, we know people and relationships are more precious than fame and wealth. After all, you can’t take that stuff with you. No one says as they pass from this life into the life to come that they wished they had done more business deals or spent more time at the office.
It’s like this with God. It is nothing to Him to make the most precious of metals and gems. He’s got a whole universe of those things. But you? Now, you’re worth more than Him than a world of riches. As are your family and friends.
